A major Thai bank moved its file transfers to MOVEit, with compliance as the requirement

The brief was not faster transfers — it was being able to prove what happened. Net Bright implemented Progress MOVEit so every file exchange the bank makes is encrypted, controlled and recorded in a log an auditor will accept.

Secure managed file transfer for banking

The challenge

A bank is asked questions no ordinary business is asked. Who sent this file. Who could have read it. Was it altered on the way. Show the record for the last twelve months. Those questions come from regulators, from internal audit, and from the bank’s own risk function — and they are not satisfied by an assurance that the transfer was secure.

Scheduled FTP jobs and hand-written scripts cannot answer them. They carry credentials in plain configuration, they log little, and what they do log is easy to change. The exposure is not only that a file might leak — it is that the bank cannot demonstrate that one did not.

What we implemented

Progress MOVEit Transfer becomes the controlled path for those exchanges. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest using FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography, access is granted by role rather than by shared account, and integrity is checked so a file that changed is detected rather than delivered.

The audit log is the part that mattered most here. MOVEit records every action — upload, download, delete, permission change, failed login — in a tamper-evident log that can be exported as evidence rather than reconstructed from server logs afterwards.

MOVEit Automation replaces the scripts. Transfers run on a schedule or on an event, retry on failure, and alert when an expected file has not arrived, with the workflow defined as configuration that can be reviewed rather than as code that only its author understands.

The result

An audit request that used to mean days of log gathering becomes a report. That is the whole return: not a faster transfer, but a shorter answer.

Net Bright is the authorized Progress distributor in Thailand, so licensing, version upgrades and vendor escalation stay with the team that designed the deployment — which matters when the deadline is set by a regulator rather than by the bank.
